Unlabelled: Amniotic band syndrome is a constrictive phenomenon in fetal development that can provoke limb autoamputation, malformation, trunk division, and umbilical cord strangulation. The latter two complications will ultimately lead to fetal demise if left untreated. If detected early enough, select cases may benefit from prenatal resection of the amniotic bands, thus preventing amputation and fetal death.

LC-MS/MS assisted pharmacokinetic and tissue distribution study of ropivacaine and 3-OH-ropivacaine on rats after plane block anesthesia.

January 2025

Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Faculty of General Medicine, George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures, Târgu Mureș, Romania.

Knowledge of drug pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution is precious for ensuring patient safety and optimizing treatments. The varied use of local anesthetics, as well as the fact that anesthetics can sometimes have low therapeutic indices and numerous adverse drug reactions, makes any novel pharmacokinetics information valuable. The present manuscript describes a pharmacokinetic study of ropivacaine carried out after plane block anesthesia on an animal model, using high sensitivity, accurate, and precise LC-MS/MS bioanalysis.

Many animals are capable of rapid dynamic colour change, which is particularly well represented in fishes. The proximate mechanisms of dynamic colour change in fishes are well understood; however, less attention has been given to understanding its ecological relevance. In this study, we investigate dynamic colour change in zebrafish () across multiple contexts, using a protocol to image the colouration of live fish without anaesthesia under standardized conditions.
