Generative text-to-image models, which allow users to create appealing images through a text prompt, have seen a dramatic increase in popularity in recent years. However, most users have a limited understanding of how such models work and often rely on trial and error strategies to achieve satisfactory results. The prompt history contains a wealth of information that could provide users with insights into what has been explored and how the prompt changes impact the output image, yet little research attention has been paid to the visual analysis of such process to support users.

Text-to-Microstructure Generation Using Generative Deep Learning.

Small

September 2024

Research Center for Macromolecules and Biomaterials, National Institute for Materials Science, 1-2-1 Sengen, Tsukuba, 305-0047, Japan.

Designing novel materials is greatly dependent on understanding the design principles, physical mechanisms, and modeling methods of material microstructures, requiring experienced designers with expertise and several rounds of trial and error. Although recent advances in deep generative networks have enabled the inverse design of material microstructures, most studies involve property-conditional generation and focus on a specific type of structure, resulting in limited generation diversity and poor human-computer interaction. In this study, a pioneering text-to-microstructure deep generative network (Txt2Microstruct-Net) is proposed that enables the generation of 3D material microstructures directly from text prompts without additional optimization procedures.

This review article explores the potential contribution of Japan's experience in addressing rapid aging in Asia with a specific focus on dementia care. As Japan is a frontrunner in terms of aging society, we consider valuable insights and lessons from Japanese policy history and reflect on its contribution. The World Health Organization, Regional Office for the Western Pacific Regional Action Plan on Healthy Ageing for the Western Pacific was compared with the Japanese "Outline for Promotion of Dementia Policies".

Identifying Dopamine D3 Receptor Ligands through Virtual Screening and Exploring the Binding Modes of Hit Compounds.

Molecules

January 2023

Key Laboratory of Structure-Based Drug Design and Discovery Ministry of Education, Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang 110016, China.

The dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) is an important central nervous system target for treating various neurological diseases. D3R antagonists modulate the improvement of psychostimulant addiction and relapse, while D3R agonists can enhance the response to dopaminergic stimulation and have potential applications in treating Parkinson’s disease, which highlights the importance of identifying novel D3R ligands. Therefore, we performed auto dock Vina-based virtual screening and D3R-binding-affinity assays to identify human D3R ligands with diverse structures.
