Background: The purpose of the study was to investigate and assess patients with severe, coronarographically documented coronary artery disease (CAD), previous myocardial infarction and left ventricular dysfunction, using radionuclide method for myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with 99mTc-MIBI and nitrate administration for detection of viable myocardium.
Material And Methods: We investigated 56 patients (37 male, 19 female, mean age 58 +/- 8 years) with CAD and previous myocardial infarction, mean EF 38% +/- 12; divided into 2 groups: Group I--28 patients, investigated at rest, i.v.

Aim: To identify the total content of trans fatty acid (TFA) isomers and C18:1 trans isomers in subcutaneous fat samples from persons with atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries, as an indicator of dietary exposure.
Methods: Using capillary gas chromatography, the authors determined total content of TFA isomers and C18:1 trans isomers in the subcutaneous fat of 34 patients with ischemic heart disease who had undergone aortocoronary bypass surgery and in 46 patients with no sign of coronary disease.
Results: On average, the total TFAs in cardiac patients were 2.

The presence of Chlamydia pneumoniae infection was examined in 66 patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP), 155 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AIM) and 112 controls without signs of a heart disease. Besides evaluation of anamnestic data, ECG and coronarographic examination, serologic examination of C. pneumoniae by the microfluorescent method anti-MOMP and ELISA of anti-LPS of globulin IgA and IgG serum classes in every patient was performed.
