Progranulin is a secreted pro-protein that is necessary for maintaining lysosomal function and exerts anti-inflammatory and neurotrophic effects in the brain. Loss-of-function GRN mutations, most of which cause progranulin haploinsufficiency, are a major autosomal dominant cause of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Other GRN variants are associated with risk for FTD, Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease.

Delivery nanosystems have been widely developed to improve the efficacy of chemotherapy. However, their performance regarding the non-specific leakage of drugs remained unsatisfactory. Herein, gold nanocages (AuNCs) were used as carriers and thermo-sensitive liposome (TSL) as a protective shell to design a camptothecin (CPT)-loaded delivery nanosystem (AuNCs/CPT@TSL) for photothermal-modulated drug release.

Saprolegniasis is a common fungal disease in aquaculture. It will form white flocculent hyphae on the skin of fish, and the hyphae may grow inward and penetrate into muscle tissue, which will reduce the immunity of the body and eventually lead to death. However, there are still some gaps in the mechanism of the fish body surface against the invasion of Saprolegnia.

Neglecting the time intervals between sampling and biological testing can lead to misinterpretation of the hazards associated with advanced oxidation processes when assessed through bioassays. This study investigates changes in the non-specific toxicity of ozonated aromatic compounds and analyzes the factors such as temperature and light exposure influencing these changes during sample storage. The findings reveal a significant decrease in biotoxicity of ozonated effluents, ranging from 41 % to 83 %, within the first four days of storage at 22 °C under natural light exposure.
