Background: A modified computed tomography angiography (CTA)-based Carotid Plaque Reporting and Data System (Plaque-RADS) classification was applied to a cohort of patients with embolic stroke of undetermined source to test whether high-risk Plaque-RADS subtypes are more prevalent on the ipsilateral side of stroke. With the widespread use of CTA for stroke evaluation, a CTA-based Plaque-RADS would be valuable for generalizability.

Methods: A retrospective observational cross-sectional study was conducted at a single integrated health system comprised of 3 hospitals with a comprehensive stroke center between October 1, 2015, and April 1, 2017.

Background: Hypothyroidism is a common sequela after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has gained prominence in thyroid imaging, leveraging its non-ionizing radiation, high spatial resolution, multiparameter and multidirectional imaging. Few previous studies have investigated the evaluation of radiation-induced thyroid injury by MRI.

Functional Improvements by Controlled Suture Tension in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair.

JB JS Open Access

January 2025

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University Hospital, Shiga University of Medical Science, Shiga, Japan.

Background: Although a certain degree of tension in bridging sutures is required for proper tendon healing following suture-bridge rotator cuff repair, excessive suture tension may be detrimental to tendon healing. This study aimed to investigate the effects of bridging suture tension on clinical outcomes and tendon healing. We hypothesized that fixed, low tension of the bridging sutures would improve the tendon healing rate and clinical outcomes compared with maximum manual tensioning.

This study aimed to compare the conventional soybean ( L.) cultivation method with integrated systems in an Latossolo Vermelho Acriférrico típico and how these systems affect soil cover biomass production, initial nutrient concentration in plant residues, soil respiration and microclimate, as well as soybean growth, physiology and productivity. A comparative analysis of microclimate and soil respiration, plant physiology, and growth was conducted between a conventional soybean monoculture (soybean grown without plant residues on the soil from the previous crop) and soybean grown in soil containing maize residues.
