Aflatoxin B (AFB) is a highly toxic substance found in food, necessitating rapid and sensitive detection methods. Combining interfacial capacitive sensing with AC electrothermal (ACET) enrichment, an aptasensor based on a PCB electrode array is developed for real-time detection of trace AFB. Owing to the sensitive solid-liquid capacitance with a pF-level resolution, AFB detection at sub-femtomolar level is achieved.

Lead (Pb) ion detection poses a critical problem, particularly in environmental monitoring, industrial operations, and public health, especially for young children and expecting women. Determining lead levels in blood early on is essential to minimizing the long-term consequences of lead exposure. Several sophisticated detection instruments, such as mass spectrometers which perform with high sensitivity, specificity and accuracy, but require a lab-based setting, multi-step sample preparation, expensive payment and professional operation.

Disposable biosensors provide high portability and advantageous response time, which are crucial in the next generation of analytical platforms. Herein, we report on zeolites embedding silver clusters as an electroactive material that enhances the electrode-analyte interaction in disposable electrochemical strips made of plastic or paper. The resulting analytical platform effectively immobilizes analytes and facilitates electron exchange transfer.
