The cystic artery is a critical anatomical landmark in both laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy. This report presents a unique case involving two rare anatomical variations: double cystic arteries, along with a superficial branch originating from the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) - a previously unreported combination with significant clinical and surgical implications. Unlike earlier studies, this research provides detailed anatomical and embryological insights supported by high-quality imaging and illustrations to guide surgeons in recognizing and managing this novel variation.

Influence of matrix stiffness on microstructure evolution and magnetization of magneto-active elastomers.

Soft Matter

January 2025

Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e.V., Hohe Strasse 6, Dresden, 01069, Germany.

Field-induced microstructure evolution can play an important role in defining the coupled magneto-mechanical response of Magneto-Active Elastomers (MAEs). The behavior of these materials is classically modeled using mechanical, magnetic and coupled magneto-mechanical contributions to their free energy function. If the MAE sample is fully clamped so it cannot deform, the mechanical coupling is reduced to the internal microscopic deformations caused by the particles moving and deforming the elastic medium that surrounds them.

Background Incidental gallbladder carcinoma (IGBC) remains a significant clinical challenge, with its diagnosis often delayed due to the asymptomatic nature of the disease and its incidental discovery post-cholecystectomy. This study's aim is to calculate incidence in a high-risk, region-specific (North Indian) population and also to provide novel insights into clinical presentation as well as macroscopic and histopathological features of IGBC. Material and methods This retrospective observational study spanned four years (August 2013 to July 2016) and included a total of 3096 cases.

Background:  Circulating tumor cells and clusters (CTC) from soft-tissue sarcoma (STS) that become entrapped in the lung can form micro-metastases and lead to pulmonary metastatic disease. Many patients with localized high-risk STS later develop metastases. Radiation is effective at reducing local recurrence by eradicating microscopic infiltration and satellites in the reactive zone surrounding the primary tumor.

Malignant transformation is a rare complication of ovarian mature cystic teratoma that occurs in 1-3% of cases. We herein report a case of squamous cell carcinoma originating from mature cystic teratoma of the ovary diagnosed 10 years after initial tumor detection. A 69-year-old woman presented to the Department of Internal Medicine with a seven-month history of abdominal fullness.
