Corrosion causes significant economic losses and structural failures in industries, highlighting the need for eco-friendly inhibitors. Chitosan (CS), a biodegradable and non-toxic biopolymer, shows potential, though its limited water solubility restricts its applications. To overcome this challenge, this study presents the synthesis of two water-soluble chitosan Schiff bases (CSBs) derived from the shells of Metapenaeus dobsoni (M.

Herein, a Eugenol-derived fluorescence 'turn-on' probe FLHE was synthesized by condensing 2-((3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)amino)benzohydrazide with 5-allyl-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde. FLHE demonstrated very low fluorescence in the studied organic solvents of varying polarities. However, upon titration with Zn in HEPES buffer (pH = 7.

In this study, polynuclear Cu(II) complex , Mn(II) and Mn(III) complex have been prepared with a Schiff base ligand derived from 2-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde with 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The molecular and crystal structures of were determined by the single-crystal x-ray diffraction technique.

This work deals with the synthesis and characterization of copper(II) complex [Cu(salen)(HO)]() of salen-type Schiff base ligand derived from the condensation of 5-bromo-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and ethylenediamine in EtOH. This complex was characterized by different spectroscopic and physicochemical methods. Single crystal X-ray crystallography study revealed that Cu(II) in complex () is five-coordinate and adopts a distorted square pyramidal geometry.

Schiff base compounds and their metal complexes have become important synthetic organic drugs due to their extensive biological activities, which include anticancer, antibacterial and antiviral effects. In this study, we investigated the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of VALD-3, a Schiff base ligand synthesized from o-vanillin derivatives, on human breast cancer cells and the possible underlying mechanisms. 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT)-test was used to observe the proliferation of human breast cancer MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells induced by VALD-3.
