Food allergy has had a rapid rise in prevalence, and thus it is important to identify approaches to limit the development of food allergy early in life. Because maternal dietary supplementation with α-tocopherol (α-T), an isoform of vitamin E, during pregnancy and nursing increases neonate plasma levels of α-T and can limit neonate development of other allergies, we hypothesized that α-T can limit development of food allergy. To assess this, male mice with mutations in their skin barrier genes (FT-/- mice) were mated with wild-type females that received a diet supplemented with α-tocopherol or a control diet.

Calcinosis cutis, characterized by the pathological deposition of insoluble calcium salts in the skin, is associated with several disease entities, particularly autoimmune conditions such as scleroderma and dermatomyositis. Lesions of calcinosis are often painful, prone to ulceration, and significantly impair quality of life. Despite the clinical impact, no effective treatments have been established to date, making prevention of this condition a critical priority.

Background: Zinc and vitamin E affect the metabolism of testosterone and inflammatory factors. We aimed to evaluate the effect of zinc and vitamin E supplementation on plasma testosterone levels and inflammatory markers in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
Methods: This study was a secondary analysis of a previously published randomized controlled trial in a subsample of male patients undergoing CABG surgery.

Background: Nicotinamide, a form of B3 vitamin, is an NAD precursor that reduces pTau levels via histone deacetylase inhibition in murine models of Alzheimer's disease (AD). A recent phase 2a randomized placebo-controlled trial tested high-dose oral nicotinamide for the treatment of early AD. While nicotinamide demonstrated good safety and tolerability, it did not significantly lower CSF pTau, the primary biomarker endpoint of the study.

Objective: Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) is a progressive, age-related degenerative disease characterized by the accumulation of calcium deposits in the aortic valve. We aim to screen key genes associated with cellular senescence (CS) in CAVD.
Methods: The GSE12644 and GSE51472 datasets from the GEO database was utilized in this study, and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using the "limma" R package.
