Design Criteria for Active and Selective Catalysts in the Nitrogen Oxidation Reaction.

ACS Phys Chem Au

January 2025

University of Duisburg-Essen, Faculty of Chemistry, Theoretical Catalysis and Electrochemistry, Universitätsstraße 5, Essen 45141, Germany.

The direct conversion of dinitrogen to nitrate is a dream reaction to combine the Haber-Bosch and Ostwald processes as well as steam reforming using electrochemistry in a single process. Regrettably, the corresponding nitrogen oxidation (NOR) reaction is hampered by a selectivity problem, since the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is both thermodynamically and kinetically favored in the same potential range. This opens the search for the identification of active and selective NOR catalysts to enable nitrate production under anodic reaction conditions.

Objective: The present study delves into the exploration of diagnostic biomarkers linked with ferroptosis in the context of diabetic nephropathy, unraveling their underlying molecular mechanisms.

Methods: In this study, we retrieved datasets GSE96804 and GSE30529 as the training cohort, followed by screening for Differentially Expressed Genes (DEGs). By intersecting these DEGs with known ferroptosisrelated genes, we obtained the differentially expressed genes related to ferroptosis (DEFGs).

Recovered water - HO from the F[FDG] production as liquid radioactive waste.

Appl Radiat Isot

January 2025

Department of Medical Physics, Copernicus Memorial Hospital in Lodz Comprehensive Cancer Center and Traumatology, Lodz, Poland; Department of Medical Imaging Technology, Medical University of Lodz, Ul. Lindleya 6, 90-131, Łódź, Poland.

In this study, ten recovered water samples were analysed using gamma spectrometry and Liquid Scintillation Counting techniques for identification of radioactive impurities (quality and quantity) and for radioactive waste qualifications. The presence of several radioactive isotopes of H, Co Mn in the recovered [O] water irradiated with 11 MeV protons used to produce [F] fluoride by the O(p,n)F reaction has been confirmed. Radioactive impurities were generated directly in enriched water or washed out from activated Havar foil, or tantalum body target material.

Pocket hematoma is a common and serious complication following cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation, contributing to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel pocket compression device in reducing pocket hematoma occurrence. We enrolled 242 patients undergoing CIED implantation, randomly assigning them to receive either the novel compression vest with a pressure cuff or conventional sandbag compression.

The objective of this work was to explore the capabilities of a field emission gun scanning electron microscope (FEG-SEM) equipped with a transmission scanning electron detector (TSEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) to identify nanoscale chemical heterogeneities in a gas atomization reaction synthesis (GARS) steel sample. The results of this analysis were compared to the same study conducted with scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) with EDS mapping. TSEM-EDS was performed using the standard spectral analysis approach, i.
