Aim: Vaginal vault (VV) surgery should be a key part of surgery for a majority of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The surgical anatomy of the VV, the upper most part of the vagina, has not been recently subject to a dedicated examination and description.
Methods: Cadaver studies were performed in (i) 10 unembalmed cadaveric pelves (observation); (ii) 2 unembalmed cadaveric pelves (dissection); (iii) 5 formalinized hemipelves (dissection).

The uterosacral ligaments (USLs) are supportive structures of the uterus and apical vagina. The mechanical function of these ligaments within the pelvic floor is crucial not only in normal physiological conditions but also in reconstructive surgeries for pelvic organ prolapse. Discrepancies in their anatomical and histological description exist in the literature, but such discrepancies are likely due to large variations of these structures.

Pelvic organ prolapse is a hernia of the vaginal wall. Elements of vaginal hanging and perineum support undergo mechanical strains that lead to this pelvic floor disorder. The utero-sacral ligaments and the arcus tendineus of the pelvic fascia lose their elasticity.

The objective of this study was to evaluate our technique and steps of robotic and laparoendoscopic single-site utero-sacral ligament suspension in the treatment of patients with symptomatic apical vaginal prolapse. A retrospective analysis was done using the data in 2 community hospital. Eighteen women presented with vaginal apex prolapse and desired minimally invasive surgery (video): (a) Laparoendoscopic single-site utero-sacral ligament suspension (LESS-UTSLS) (n = 13) or (b) robotic-assisted single-site utero-sacral ligament suspension (RASS-UTSLS) (n = 5) were eligible to participate.

Objective: To investigate the changes in histological characteristics and collagen content in uterosacral and cardinal ligaments of perimenopausal women in relation to relaxation of pelvic supports.
Methods: Twenty-eight subjects undergoing hysterectomies were selected, in which 14 cases were perimenopausal women with relaxation of pelvic support as the relaxation group and 14 women at perimenopausal age with leomyoma, cervical cancer, adenomyosis as the control group. Samples of cardinal ligaments and uterosacral ligaments were obtained at hysterectomies, and the tissues were sliced and stained by Masson's trichrome technique.
