The purpose of this study was to understand the molecular phenotypes of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) and vaginal fibroblasts (VFBs) and whether pelvic organ prolapse (POP) affects their biological properties. We performed RNA sequencing of paired ASCs and VFBs from six patients with POP and six controls (CTRL). The transcriptomes of POP and CTRL in either ASCs or VFBs were compared (DESeq2, false discovery rate (FDR) < 0.

Daphnane diterpenoids, as one of the representative types of diterpenoid compounds with rich structural diversity and significant biological activities, have an uncommon 5/7/6 tricyclic skeleton mainly found in species of Thymelaeaceae and Euphorbiaceae families. Due to the unique peculiarity of the framework and remarkable pharmacological activities, over the past three decades, novel structures have been continuously discovered and more structural subtypes have been derived. However, there is always a lack of a unified and convincing structural classification strategy for the summary of daphnane diterpenoids, which affects the in-depth and systematic research of pharmaceutical chemists and pharmacologists.

Chromogenic bacterial staining of teeth: a scoping review.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Basic Medical and Dental Sciences Department, College of Dentistry, Ajman University, Ajman, UAE.

Article Synopsis
  • This scoping review aims to investigate the causes, clinical traits, and treatment methods for chromogenic staining of teeth, following the PRISMA 2022 guidelines.
  • A systematic search across multiple medical databases led to the identification of 989 articles, with 21 ultimately included for analysis, highlighting that chromogenic bacteria can cause staining in 3.1 to 18.5% of cases, primarily resulting in black discoloration.
  • The findings indicate a lack of comprehensive literature on this topic, emphasizing the need for further research into effective management strategies for these challenging stains linked to specific oral bacteria.
