Electropositive Magnetic Fluorescent Nanoprobe-Mediated Immunochromatographic Assay for the Ultrasensitive and Simultaneous Detection of Bacteria.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences), Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, 510000, China.

Immunochromatographic assays (ICAs) provide simple and rapid strategies for bacterial diagnosis but still suffer from the problems of low sensitivity and high dependency on paired antibodies. Herein, the broad-spectrum capture and detection capability of the antibody-free electropositive nanoprobe are clarified for bacteria for the first time and an ultrasensitive fluorescent ICA platform is constructed for the simultaneous diagnosis of multiple pathogens. A magnetic multilayer quantum dot nanocomposite with an amino-embedded SiO shell (MagMQD@Si) is designed to enrich bacteria from solutions effectively, offer high luminescence, and reduce background signals on test strips, thus greatly improving the sensitivity and stability of ICA technique for pathogen.

The steady state of a water distribution system abides by the laws of mass and energy conservation. Hydraulic solvers, such as the one used by EPANET approach the simulation for a given topology with a Newton-Raphson algorithm. However, iterative approximation involves a matrix inversion which acts as a computational bottleneck and may significantly slow down the process.

Recent Progress in Polyolefin Plastic: Polyethylene and Polypropylene Transformation and Depolymerization Techniques.

Molecules

December 2024

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Aplicadas a Produtos para a Saúde, Laboratório de Inovação em Química e Tecnologia Farmacêutica, Faculdade de Farmácia, Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rua Doutor Mario Vianna, 523, Santa Rosa, Niterói 24241-000, RJ, Brazil.

This paper highlights the complexity and urgency of addressing plastic pollution, drawing attention to the environmental challenges posed by improperly discarded plastics. Petroleum-based plastic polymers, with their remarkable range of physical properties, have revolutionized industries worldwide. Their versatility-from flexible to rigid and hydrophilic to hydrophobic-has fueled an ever-growing demand.

Introduction: Distant recurrences are a major problem after surgical treatment for endometrial carcinoma; metastases to the bone are usually restricted to the axial skeleton, cases of costal localization are few. We present a case of a massive costal metastases successfully treated in our department.

Case Presentation: A 60-year-old woman underwent bilateral hysteroannessectomy followed by adjuvant radiotherapy for endometrial adenocarcinoma pT3a FIGO IIIA.

Utilizing the sparsity of the electronic structure problem, fragmentation methods have been researched for decades with great success, pushing the limits of ab initio quantum chemistry ever further. Recently, this set of methods has been expanded to include a fundamentally different approach called excitonic renormalization, providing promising initial results. It builds a supersystem Hamiltonian in a second-quantized-like representation from transition-density tensors of isolated fragments, contracted with biorthogonalized molecular integrals.
