Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a type of cancer that develops in the biliary tract. CCA accounts for 10% of primary hepatic cancers and is characterized by its aggressive nature and poor prognosis. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to assess the prognostic value of the novel hepatic function assessment measure known as albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade in patients with CCA.

Importance: The neuropathological links underlying the association between changes in liver function and AD have not yet been clearly elucidated.

Objective: We aimed to examine the relationship between liver function markers and longitudinal changes in Alzheimer's disease (AD) core pathologies.

Design: Data from the Korean Brain Aging Study for the Early Diagnosis and Prediction of Alzheimer's Disease, a longitudinal cohort study initiated in 2014, were utilized.

Carbon dots doped with metals and non-metals have gained much popularity due to the enhancement in their optical and electronic properties. In this study, polyethyleneimine-functionalized transition metal (nickel or copper) doped carbon dots (CD, NiCD and CuCD) were synthesized through hydrothermal method. The carbon dots exhibited a blue fluorescence at 470 nm when excited at 350 nm.

Both term and preterm infants are susceptible to pathological jaundice, a frequent condition that can cause long-lasting neurological damage. A novel treatment for indirect pathological hyperbilirubinemia is bilisphere phototherapy, which lowers total serum bilirubin just as well as exchange transfusions. In heme degradation, biliverdin reductase catalyzes the conversion of biliverdin to bilirubin. Defects in the biliverdin reductase A gene () causing biliverdinuria are extraordinarily rare in humans, and this inborn error of metabolism has not been reported in other mammals. The objective of this study was to diagnose biliverdinuria and identify the causal variants in two adult mixed-breed dogs with life-long green urine.
