Introduction: Post-surgery radiotherapy to the breast and regional lymph nodes decreases locoregional tumour recurrence and related mortality. The FAST-Forward approach, with 5 daily fractions, shows non-inferiority to the conventional 15-fraction scheme with similar safety. Authors suggest Simultaneous Integrated Boost (SIB) for the tumour bed and regional nodal irradiation (RNI) for comparable toxicity.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of four techniques of partial breast irradiation (PBI) including interstitial brachytherapy (ISBT), balloon-based brachytherapy (BBT), Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) in the treatment for early-stage breast cancer patients after breast-conserving surgery. A systematic search was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines using the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases. The inclusion criteria were clinical trials and observational studies that reported on outcome measures of principal PBI techniques.

Background: In high-risk breast cancer patients with skin infiltration, the administration of a uniform dose to superficial tissues is fundamental in order to reduce local skin relapse. A personalized bolus may prevent the potential inadequate dose distribution of a standard bolus due to air gaps between the bolus and the skin. In this pilot study, we introduced into clinical practice the use of a personalized 3D-printed bolus filled with ultrasound transmission gel.
