Oxidation of acetates of allyl and 2-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)ethyl beta-cellobiosides (with OH-4' and OH-6' unprotected) with the Jones reagent followed by esterification (with diazomethane or phenyldiazomethane) gave corresponding uronates with OH-4' unsubstituted. Condensation of these glycosyl acceptors and benzylated derivatives of D-galactose or 4-O-(alpha-D-glucopyranosyl)-D-galactose led to the protected tri- and tetrasaccharide fragments of the capsular polysaccharide from Streptococcus pneumoniae type 8.

The endoscopic transsphenoidal approach is a common approach used in skull base neurosurgery to reach the sellar region. One of the intraoperative risks of this approach is intraoperative bleeding out of the carotid artery. Gentle drilling can prevent carotid artery injury.

is a Gram-positive bacterium that is responsible for severe nosocomial infections. The rise of multidrug-resistant strains, which can pose significant health threats, prompts the development of new treatment interventions, and much attention has been directed at the development of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccination strategies. Capsular polysaccharides (CPs) are key protective elements of the cell wall and have been proposed as promising candidate antigens.

Background: Arthroscopic repair is recommended for patients with bony Bankart lesions to restore anterior shoulder stability and avoid recurrent glenohumeral instability. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and radiological outcomes of patients following arthroscopic bony Bankart repair using a single suture anchor fixation technique named the "door-locking" technique.
Methods: From January 2017 to February 2024, a consecutive series of 22 patients with acute bony Bankart lesions underwent shoulder arthroscopy.

We have analyzed the capsule (CPS) and the lipopolysaccharide O-Antigen (O-Ag) biosynthesis loci of fifteen field isolates of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, including eleven North American and four Japanese ones, reactive to antisera against serovars 3, 6, 8 and/or 15. Ten North American isolates amplified a serovar 6-indicative fragment derived from the capsular loci, whereas one North American isolate and all four Japanese isolates amplified the serovar 6-indicative fragment as well as the serovar 3-indicative fragment. The five isolates producing a 3/6 banding pattern contain a type I CPS locus, named K6b, similar to serovar 6, but with differences in the cpxABCD and cpsABC gene sequences and the length of intergenic regions (modF-cpxA, and cpsC-cpsD).
