Salmonella is an important foodborne pathogen that poses a significant threat to food safety. This study aims to assess the prevalence, genomic features, and colistin-resistant mechanisms of Salmonella isolates collected from 118 retail pork samples from January 2021 to January 2022 in Shanghai, China. Overall, 46 (39.

Comparative analysis of antibiotic resistance genes between fresh pig manure and composted pig manure in winter, China.

School of Environmental Engineering, Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute, Kaifeng Key Laboratory of Food Composition and Quality Assessment, Kaifeng, China.

Antibiotic resistance is a critical global public health issue. The gut microbiome acts as a reservoir for numerous antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), which influence both existing and future microbial populations within a community or ecosystem. However, the differences in ARG expression between fresh and composted feces remain poorly understood.

Recent studies suggested intrathecal vasodilator administration as a therapy to mitigate post-ischemic cerebral hypoperfusion following cardiac arrest. We examined the effects of two commonly used intrathecal vasodilators, sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and nicardipine, on cerebral pial microcirculation, cortical tissue oxygen tension (PctO2), and electrocortical activity in the early post-resuscitation period using a porcine model of cardiac arrest. Thirty pigs were resuscitated after 14 min of untreated cardiac arrest.

Due to its anatomical and physiological similarities to the human eye, the porcine eye serves as a robust model for biomedical research and ocular toxicity assessment. An air/liquid corneal culture system using porcine eyes was developed, and ex vivo epithelial wound healing was utilized as a critical parameter for these studies. Fresh pig corneas were processed for organ culture, with or without epithelial wounding.

IFN-β production induced by PRRSV is affected by GP3 quantity control and CLND4 interaction.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is one of the most harmful pathogens in the swine industry. Our previous studies demonstrated that the small extracellular domain (ECL2) of CLDN4 effectively blocks PRRSV infection. In this study, we explored the in vivo administration of swine ECL2 (sECL2) and found that it blocked HP-PRRSV infection and alleviated histopathological changes in organs.
