We previously demonstrated that reduced intrinsic electron transport chain (ETC) activity predicts and promotes sensitivity to the BCL-2 antagonist, venetoclax (Ven) in multiple myeloma (MM). Heme, an iron-containing prosthetic group, and metabolite is fundamental to maintaining ETC activity. Interrogation of the CD2 subgroup of MM from the CoMMpass trial (NCT01454297), which can be used as a proxy for Ven-sensitive MM (VS MM), shows reduced expression of the conserved heme biosynthesis pathway gene signature.

Sepsis remains the leading cause of mortality among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, with its pathogenesis and treatment not yet fully elucidated. Ferroptosis plays a critical role in sepsis, suggesting that ferroptosis-related genes may serve as potential therapeutic targets. This study aims to identify key ferroptosis-related genes in sepsis and explore targeted therapeutics.

Different types of photosensitizers (PSs) have different dynamics and intensities of accumulation, depending on the type of tumor or different areas within the same tumor. This determines the effectiveness of fluorescence diagnostics and photodynamic therapy (PDT). This paper studies the processes of 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA)-induced protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) and chlorin e6 (Ce6) accumulation in the central and border zones of a tumor after combined administration of two PSs into the patient's body.

Background And Objectives: High-grade glioma (HGG) is the most common primary brain tumor in adults. The overall median survival is between 14 and 16 months. Fluorescence-guided surgery by detection of protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) fluorescence has been shown to improve the extent of resection, translating to improved progression-free survival.
