Objective: To investigate the predictive value of enhanced-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and fluoroscopic factors regarding the effects of transforaminal epidural steroid injections (TFESIs) in low back pain (LBP) patients with lumbosacral radiating pain.
Methods: A total of 51 patients who had LBP with radiating pain were recruited between January 2011 and December 2012. The patient data were classified into the two groups 'favorable group' and 'non-favorable group' after 2 weeks of follow-up results.

The epidural distribution of iohexol (0.2 ml/kg) administered at thoracic vertebrae (Thoracic group) and lumbar vertebrae (Lumbar group) was compared by computed tomographic (CT) epidurography in dogs. The total spread of iohexol was similar between the 2 groups upon reaching a similar cranial level.

Objective: To compare, using CT epidurography, the cranial distribution of contrast after epidural injection when saline or air is used for the loss of resistance (LOR) technique in identifying the epidural space.
Study Design: Prospective, randomized, cross-over experimental study.

Objective: To determine the minimal electric threshold (MET) of neurostimulation in and out of the lumbosacral epidural space necessary to cause muscle contraction of the hind limb or tail, determine an MET cutoff value that indicates epidural needle placement, and compare predictability of epidural needle placement attained by use of neurostimulation versus the standard technique that uses loss of resistance in dogs.
Animals: 96 healthy Beagles.
Procedures: Dogs received nonionic contrast medium (90 mg/kg) either in or out of the epidural space.
