Protein-protein associations are often mediated by an intrinsically disordered protein region interacting with a folded domain in a coupled binding and folding reaction. Classic physical organic chemistry approaches together with structural biology have shed light on mechanistic aspects of such reactions. Further insight into general principles may be obtained by interpreting the results through an evolutionary lens.

Prostate cancer is one of the most prevalent male-specific diseases, where early and accurate diagnosis is essential for effective treatment and preventing disease progression. Assessing disease severity involves analyzing histological tissue samples, which are graded from 1 (healthy) to 5 (severely malignant) based on pathological features. However, traditional manual grading is labor-intensive and prone to variability.

Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have showcased their proficiency in predicting AKI, projecting disease progression, and accurately identifying underlying etiologies. This review examines the central aspects of AKI post-HSCT, veno-occlusive disease (VOD) in HSCT recipients, discusses present-day applications of artificial intelligence in AKI, and introduces a proposed ML framework for the early detection of AKI risk.
