Background: One of the effective strategies for the treatment of tumor diseases, including colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC), is immunotherapy. During inflammation, NF-κB is activated, which is connected with the hypoxia-inducible factor-HIF, regulating the immune cells functioning and influences the CAC development. Organisms differ according to their hypoxia resistance and HIF expression.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) poses significant therapeutic challenges due to excessive hyaluronic acid (HA) accumulation, which impedes drug delivery. Here, we present a targeted approach to reduce HA production by specifically silencing glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase 1 (GFAT1), a key enzyme of the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway (HBP) in pancreatic cancer cells. An engineered liposomal system for siGFAT1 delivery, PMLip@siGFAT1, characterized by macrophage membrane camouflage, LFC131 peptide-mediated targeting, and calcium phosphate (CaP) as the core, was designed to ensure prolonged circulation, enhanced inflamed vascular endothelial penetration, and subsequent effective tumor cell uptake and endosomal escape.

Spinal cord injury (SCI), characterized by the disruption of neural pathways and an increase in inflammatory cell infiltration, leads to profound and lasting neurological deficits, with a high risk of resulting in permanent disability. Currently, the therapeutic landscape for SCI is notably sparse, with limited effective treatment options available. Methylprednisolone (MP), a widely used clinical anti-inflammatory agent for SCI, requires administration in high doses that are associated with significant adverse effects.

March 2025

Key Lab of Modern Toxicology of Ministry of Education, Center for Global Health, School of Public Health, Nanjing Medical University, 101 Longmian Avenue, Nanjing 211166, China. Electronic address:

In an effort to mitigate or reverse the pathological progression of early-stage osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), this study employed a promising strategy that involves the sustained delivery of osteogenic factors to augment core decompression, facilitated by the use of composite hydrogels. Specifically, a hydrogel was synthesized by blending chitosan, Pluronic F-127, and tripolyphosphate, utilizing both ionic bonding and copolymer micelle cross-linking techniques. This hydrogel demonstrated exceptional biocompatibility, temperature responsiveness, pH-dependent biodegradation, and controlled release properties.

Our group has seen great promise in using substituted diaryl-hydrazones to alleviate oxidative stress in preeclampsia. Specifically, fluorinated diaryl-hydrazones have shown great efficacy, confirmed via antioxidant assays and animal trials using pregnant mice. In addition to efficient antioxidant properties, these diaryl-hydrazones are also considered non-toxic.
