Nuclear factor of activated T-cells 5 (NFAT5) is a transcription factor known for its role in osmotic stress adaptation in the renal inner medulla, due to the osmotic gradient that is generated between the renal cortex and renal inner medulla. However, its broader implications in kidney injury and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are less understood. Here we used two different Cre deleter mice (Ksp1.

Large conductance voltage- and calcium-activated potassium channels (BK channels) are extensively found throughout the central nervous system and play a crucial role in various neuronal functions. These channels are activated by a combination of cell membrane depolarisation and an increase in intracellular calcium concentration, provided by calcium sources located close to BK. In 2001, Isaacson and Murphy first demonstrated the coupling of BK channels with N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDAR) in olfactory bulb neurons.

Increasing evidence suggests that individuals infected with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D) compared to those who are not infected. However, the mechanisms underlying this relationship remain poorly understood. In this study, we aimed to systematically evaluate the mediating roles of 3,283 plasma proteins in the link between COVID-19 susceptibility and T2D by conducting proteome-wide Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses.

Purpose Of Review: This paper aims to review pudendal neuralgia pathophysiology, risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment options.
Recent Findings: Conservative and pharmacologic options are first line treatments for the treatment of pudendal neuralgia. Interventional treatment such as, pudendal nerve blocks can be tried if first line treatments feel to provide adequate analgesia.

Purpose Of Review: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a highly heterogeneous condition with a wide choice of successful treatment options. However, differences between subtypes are poorly understood and it remains unknown which patients will respond to different treatments. This review aims to summarize the current state of the TN field and explore the problem of predicting surgical outcomes.
