Zearalenone (ZEN) is a harmful macrolide mycotoxin, posing a serious hazard to human health. In this study, a highly efficient ZEN-degrading bacterium Gordonia hydrophobica HAU421 was isolated from soil by using spiramycin (SPM)-containing selective medium. Mass spectrometry analysis revealed that strain HAU421 could transform ZEN into hydrolyzed zearalenone (HZEN), zearalenol (ZEL), and hydrolyzed zearalenol (HZEL).

A major risk to the poultry industry is antimicrobial resistance (AMR), specifically with regard to Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) infections. The sensitivity patterns of 100 MG isolates to biocides and antibiotics were examined in this study to clarify the interactions between antimicrobial agents and resistance mechanisms. The antimicrobial activity against MG was assessed using broth microdilution, and the results are shown as the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for each strain, the MIC distribution (range), the MIC, and/or the MIC.

Unlabelled: Studies have suggested that phytochemicals in green tea have systemic anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. However, the mechanisms behind these effects are poorly understood, possibly due to the differential metabolism of phytochemicals resulting from variations in gut microbiome composition. Spiramycin and its derivatives are commonly used antimicrobials, and its derivative, carrimycin, has recently been found to have good anticancer potential. Here, we found that the 4''-OH of spiramycin can be selectively acylated, resulting in a series of novel spiramycin derivatives with a structure similar to carrimycin. Anticancer studies showed that most of the derivatives exhibited moderate to good anti-proliferative activity against four cancer cell lines, including HGC-27, HT-29, HCT-116 and HeLa, especially compound 14, which has the strongest activity against HGC-27 cells with an IC value of 0.
