Background: Rhabdomyolysis (RM) frequently gives rise to diverse complications, ultimately leading to an unfavorable prognosis for patients. Consequently, there is a pressing need for early prediction of survival rates among RM patients, yet reliable and effective predictive models are currently scarce.

Methods: All data utilized in this study were sourced from the MIMIC-IV database.

Assessment of tree-associated atypical myopathy risk factors in Acer pseudoplatanus (sycamore) seeds and leaves.

Equine Vet J

January 2025

Comparative Neuromuscular Diseases Laboratory, Department of Clinical Science and Services, The Royal Veterinary College, London, UK.

Background: Sycamore tree-derived hypoglycin A (HGA) toxin causes atypical myopathy (AM), an acute, equine pasture-associated rhabdomyolysis but incidence fluctuates.

Objectives: Investigate whether tree or environmental factors influence HGA concentration in sycamore material and are associated with AM relative risk.

Study Design: Retrospective and experimental prospective study.

We reported the cytokine profile in children <18 years old who received extracorporeal blood purification (EBP) for sepsis, rhabdomyolysis, hyperbilirubinaemia, acute respiratory distress syndrome or cytokine storm, and determined the factors affecting the cytokine removal kinetics. Plasma levels of 38 types of cytokine/chemokine were measured at pre-EBP, 12 and 24 h after initiating EBP. Altogether there were 11 eligible episodes admitted between April 2021 and December 2023.

Structure-based identification of HNF4α agonists: Rosmarinic acid as a promising candidate for NAFLD treatment.

Comput Struct Biotechnol J

December 2024

National Vaccine Innovation Platform, Scholl of Pharmacy, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 211166, China.

Unlabelled: The prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), have emerged as critical global health challenges. Current lipid-lowering pharmacotherapies are associated with side effects, including hepatotoxicity, rhabdomyolysis, and decreased erythrocyte counts, underscoring the urgent need for safer therapeutic alternatives. Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α (HNF4α) has been identified as a pivotal regulator of lipid metabolism, making it an attractive target for drug development.

Global Epidemiology and health risks of Bacillus cereus Infections: Special focus on infant foods.

Food Res Int

February 2025

Department of Veterinary Medicine, Zhejiang University College of Animal Sciences, Hangzhou 310058, China; Hainan Institute of Zhejiang University, Sanya 310058, China. Electronic address:

Bacillus cereus is a common pathogen responsible for gastrointestinal and other complicated disorders, yet epidemiological data and public health measures remain scarce. To bridge these gaps, a bilingual search spaning 50 years identified 266 relevant studies on global B. cereus infection, encompassing 6,135 cases.
