Objectives: To compare the safety and efficacy of debulking devices, including directional atherectomy (DA) and excimer laser atherectomy (ELA), when combined with drug-coated balloons (DCB) for treating de novo femoropopliteal atherosclerotic obliterans (ASO). Additionally, to evaluate the long-term outcomes and application status of these different debulking devices.

Methods: Clinical data were collected from patients with femoropopliteal ASO who underwent combined debulking and DCBs at the Vascular Surgery Department of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, China, between January 2018 and January 2023.

Current Trends and Perspectives of Pressure Wire-Based Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.

J Cardiovasc Dev Dis

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Fujita Health University School of Medicine, 1-98 Dengakugakubo, Kutsukake, Toyoake 470-1192, Aichi, Japan.

Fractional flow reserve (FFR) has been well validated as a modality for evaluating myocardial ischemia, demonstrating the superiority of FFR-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) over conventional angiography-guided PCI. As a result, the strategy for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is shifting toward FFR guidance. However, the advantage of FFR-guided CABG over angiography-guided CABG remains unclear.

Background: Carotid webs are rare nonatherosclerotic disorders in the carotid artery and are increasingly recognized as factors of ischemic stroke in the young population. Asymptomatic webs can be treated with antithrombotic therapy, whereas symptomatic cases frequently require surgical interventions, including carotid endarterectomy (CEA). However, guidelines for the optimal timing of these treatments remain unestablished, especially compared to atherosclerotic stenotic lesions, due to the rarity of carotid webs.

When acute myocardial infarction meets renal abscess: Case report and literature review.

Medicine (Baltimore)

November 2024

Institute of Gerontology, Guangzhou Geriatric Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Rationale: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the leading global cause of death from cardiovascular disease, and the mortality rate increases in the presence of comorbidities such as renal abscess. The treatment of AMI combined with renal abscess is challenging, especially in combination with urinary tract obstruction, as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can lead to progression of the renal abscess and deterioration of renal function. Currently, there is no consensus on the treatment of renal abscess in AMI.
