Profile and Usefulness of Serum Cytokines to Predict Prognosis in Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease.

Neurol Neuroimmunol Neuroinflamm

March 2025

Hospices Civils de Lyon, Service de Neurologie, Sclérose en Plaques, Pathologies de la Myéline et Neuro-Inflammation-Hôpital Neurologique Pierre Wertheimer, Bron Cedex.

Objectives: To characterize the serum cytokine profile in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) at onset and during follow-up and assess their utility for predicting relapses and disability.

Methods: This retrospective multicentric cohort study included patients aged 16 years and older meeting MOGAD 2023 criteria, with serum samples collected at baseline (≤3 months from disease onset) and follow-up (≥6 months from the baseline), and age-matched and time to sampling-matched patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Eleven cytokines were assessed using the ELLA system.

Chronic low-grade inflammation observed in older adults, termed inflammaging, is a common feature underlying a multitude of aging-associated maladies including a decline in hematopoietic activity. However, whether suppression of inflammaging can preserve hematopoietic health span remains unclear, in part because of a lack of tools to measure inflammaging within hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Here, we identify thrombospondin-1 (Thbs1) as an essential regulator of inflammaging within HSCs.

Cerebral oxygen saturation in cirrhotic patients with gastro-intestinal bleeding, a near infrared spectroscopy study.

Metab Brain Dis

January 2025

Brain Liver Pitié-Salpêtrière (BLIPS) Study Group, Centre de recherche Saint- Antoine, Maladies métaboliques, biliaires et fibro-inflammatoire du foie, Institute of Cardiometabolism and Nutrition (ICAN), INSERM UMR_S 938, Paris, France.

Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) is a non-invasive optical technique allowing a continuous measurement of brain's hemoglobin (Hb) saturation in oxygen (rSO2). It is a marker of cerebral insult and rSO2 < 50% is associated with increased neurological impairment. Cirrhotic patients with gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) often develop hepatic encephalopathy (HE).

Deciphering metabolic shifts in Gaucher disease type 1: a multi-omics study.

J Mol Med (Berl)

December 2024

Department of Metabolic Biochemistry, Referral Center for Lysosomal Diseases, Normandie Univ, UNIROUEN, CHU Rouen, INSERM U1245, Filière G2M, 76000, Rouen, France.

Gaucher disease (GD), an autosomal recessive lysosomal disorder, primarily affects the lysosomal enzyme β-glucocerebrosidase (GCase), leading to glucosylceramide accumulation in lysosomes. GD presents a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. This study deploys immune-based proteomics and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics technologies to comprehensively investigate the biochemical landscape in 43 deeply phenotyped type 1 GD patients compared to 59 controls.

RICTOR variants are associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.

December 2024

Laboratoire d'ImmunoRhumatologie Moléculaire, plateforme GENOMAX, INSERM UMR_S 1109, Faculté de Médecine, Fédération Hospitalo-Universitaire OMICARE, Fédération de Médecine Translationnelle de Strasbourg (FMTS), Institut Thématique Interdisciplinaire TRANSPLANTEX NG, Université de Strasbourg, 4 rue Kirschleger, 67085, Strasbourg, France.

RICTOR is a key component of the mTORC2 signaling complex which is involved in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation and survival. RICTOR is highly expressed in neurons and is necessary for brain development. Here, we report eight unrelated patients presenting with intellectual disability and/or development delay and carrying variants in the RICTOR gene.
