Peripheral nerve transfer (PNT) to improve upper limb function following cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) involves the transfer of supralesional donor nerves under voluntary control to intralesional or sublesional lower motor neurons not under voluntary control. Appropriate selection of donor and recipient nerves and surgical timing affect functional outcomes. Although the gold standard of nerve selection is intraoperative nerve stimulation, preoperative electrodiagnostic (EDX) evaluation may help guide surgical planning.

Objectives: We review and report the use of high-dose bevacizumab for the treatment of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) in pediatric patients.
Methods: We included all patients with pediatric-onset RRP who underwent bevacizumab (25 mg/mL) injections by a single practitioner. A series of 5 consecutive subepithelial injections were administered at 4- to 6-week intervals with concomitant 532 nm KTP laser ablation.

The 532 nm pulsed KTP (potassium titanyl phosphate) laser and the 585 nm pulsed dye laser (PDL) are photoangiolytic lasers that have been demonstrated to be effective for managing vocal fold dysplasia. The putative mechanism of action is selective photoangiolysis of the sublesional microcirculation. On the basis of this experience, early glottic cancers were treated by selectively targeting the intralesional and sublesional microvasculature.

Perilesional and linear hypopigmentation, extending cephalad along the lymphatics, occurred in one patient following intralesional injection of corticosteroid suspension for treatment of a hypertrophic scar, and in a second patient following sub-lesional injection of a soft toe-web corn. Atrophy did not occur. Repigmentation in both patients was complete without specific treatment.
