Non-O1/non-O139 (NOVC) strains inhabit aquatic environments and sporadically induce human illnesses. This study involved the virulence and antimicrobial genetic characterization of 176 NOVC strains, comprising 25 from clinical samples and 151 from environmental sources, collected between 2021 and 2023. The antimicrobial susceptibility of the examined NOVC population was predominantly high, exhibiting only poor susceptibility to colistin, with 89.

Aquaculture is crucial for meeting global seafood demand; however, intensification often leads to the development of bacterial diseases that threaten productivity. Dicentrarchus labrax, a key species in European aquaculture, is highly vulnerable to vibriosis, primarily caused by Vibrio harveyi. This study investigates genetic diversity of V.

The excessive use of antibiotics in mariculture has surpassed permitted levels, leading to their release into surrounding waters and accumulation in cultured organisms, which poses risks to human health and highlighting the urgent need for alternatives to reduce antibiotic use. Therefore, the present study aimed to test four microbes including Debaryomyces hansenii, Ruegeria mobilis, Lactobacillus plantarum and Bacillus subtilis, on lowering Vibrio, promoting population increase and survival of Brachionus plicatilis. The digestive enzymes activity including α-amylase, lipase and protease, microbial retention and biochemical composition of rotifers were analyzed.

The global healthcare market increasingly demands affordable molecular diagnostics for field testing. To address this need, we introduce a lab-on-paper (LOP) platform that integrates isothermal amplification with a specially designed paper strip for molecular testing through an automated microfluidics process. The LOP system is engineered for rapid, cost-effective, and highly sensitive detection, using USB-powered thermal management and a wax valve mechanism.

The present study explores the microbial community associated with the industrially important red seaweed Gracilaria dura to determine the diversity and biotechnological potential through culture and metagenomics approaches. In the first part of the investigation, we isolated and characterized 75 bacterial morphotypes, with varied colony characteristics and metabolic diversity from the wild seaweed. Phylogenetic analysis identified isolates in Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria, with Bacillus sp.
