Yeast strains representing a novel asexual ascomycetous species were isolated from seven flowers. Sequencing of the chromosomal regions coding for the D1/D2 domains of the large subunit ribosomal RNA, the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 segments and parts of the gene coding for the small subunit ribosomal RNA showed that the isolates were conspecific.

The glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) is a glycol-lipid that anchors several proteins to the cell surface. The GPI-anchor pathway is crucial for the correct function of proteins involved in cell function, and it is fundamental in early neurogenesis and neural development. The PIG gene family is a group of genes involved in this pathway with six genes identified so far, and defects in these genes are associated with a rare inborn metabolic disorder manifesting with a spectrum of clinical phenotypes in newborns and children.

The development of a methodology for the synthesis of new compounds with antitumor activity represents a significant and priority task within the field of medicinal chemistry. As a continuation of our research group's earlier studies on the antitumor activity of ionic derivatives of natural compounds, we have synthesized a series of previously undescribed pyrazole ionic compounds through a series of transformations of lithocholic acid methyl ester. To investigate the biological activity of the newly synthesized lithocholic acid derivatives, a series of modern flow cytometry techniques were employed to assess their cytotoxic activity, effects on the cell cycle, and induction of apoptosis.

In most bacteria, cell division depends on the tubulin-homolog FtsZ that polymerizes in a GTP-dependent manner to form the cytokinetic Z-ring at the future division site. Subsequently, the Z-ring recruits, directly or indirectly, all other proteins of the divisome complex that executes cytokinesis. A critical step in this process is the precise positioning of the Z-ring at the future division site.
