BACKGROUND The cardiotoxic effects of chemotherapy in cancer treatment can damage cardiomyocytes. A common link in the pathogenesis is the proliferation of fibroblasts and the increase of collagen synthesis, leading to development of common endomyocardial fibrosis. The walls of ventricles become rigid and their inability to relax prevents them from carrying the required amount of blood.

Background And Aim: We sought to address the varied anatomical details, the diagnostic challenges, associated cardiopulmonary anomalies, the techniques, and outcomes of management, including re-interventions of scimitar syndrome.
Methods: A total of 92 published investigations of scimitar syndrome were reviewed. Diagnostic information was provided by clinical presentations, radiographic findings, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, computed-tomographic angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiocardiography, and ventilation/perfusion scans.

We present a synthesis of 95 published investigations of the exceedingly rare tunnels that can exist between the aortic root and the left or right ventricles. From the 220 suitable cases included in these investigations, we reviewed the clinical presentations, modalities used for diagnosis, surgical approaches, and outcomes. Diagnostic information was provided by clinical presentation, radiographic findings, saline contrast echocardiography, computed tomographic angiocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging, cardiac catheterization, and angiocardiography.

The present perspective is a synthesis of published investigations in the setting of anomalous connection of the right superior caval vein to the morphologically left atrium or biatrial drainage of the right caval vein. We identified 57 suitable cases from 97 investigations, reviewing the clinical presentation, diagnostic modalities utilized, surgical techniques used, and their outcomes. Clinical presentation, radiographic findings, saline contrast echocardiography, computed tomographic angiocardiography, radionuclide perfusion scan, magnetic resonance imaging, and angiocardiography provided the diagnostic information and were used to define the disease entities before surgery.

Background: To assess the diagnostic value of echocardiography in detecting the various types of anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA).
Methods: A total of 30 patients with an established diagnosis of ALCAPA were retrospectively analyzed, and classified into infant- (n=20) and adult-type (n=10) groups according to the age of symptom manifestation and the mode of presentation. All patients underwent echocardiography examination.
