Osteoporotic bone regeneration is challenging due to impaired bone formation. Tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDN), promising nucleic acid nanomaterials, have garnered attention for their potential in osteoporotic mandibular regeneration owing to their ability to enhance cellular activity and promote osteogenic differentiation. Osteoblasts play a critical role in bone regeneration; however, intracellular delivery of TDN into osteoblasts remains difficult.

Introduction: Inflammation is a vital immune response, tightly orchestrated through both biochemical and biophysical cues. Dysregulated inflammation contributes to chronic diseases, highlighting the need for novel therapies that modulate immune responses with minimal side effects. While several biochemical pathways of inflammation are well understood, the influence of physical properties such as substrate curvature on immune cell behavior remains underexplored.

Tuberculosis (TB) triggers a robust immune response, which leads to significant destruction of the lung tissue at the site of infection, aiding in the transmission of (Mtb) to the hosts. The excessive inflammatory response contributes heavily to extracellular matrix (ECM) damage, which is linked to high mortality rates among TB patients. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), particularly MMP-2 and MMP-9, are pivotal in the breakdown of the ECM, worsening tissue destruction.

Background And Aim: Fowl adenovirus (FAdV) is the etiological agent of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) and hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HHS) in poultry. It is also detected in chickens with runting and stunting syndrome (RSS). FAdV has been detected worldwide, and genotypes 8a, 8b, and 11 have been identified in chickens with enteric problems in Brazil.

Controlled PVA Release from Chemical-Physical Interpenetrating Networks to Treat Dry Eyes.

ACS Omega

January 2025

Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE), School of Optometry & Vision Science, University of Waterloo, 200 University Avenue West, Waterloo N2L 3G1, ON, Canada.

Dry eye disease is becoming increasingly prevalent, and lubricating eye drops, a mainstay of its treatment, have a short duration of time on the ocular surface. Although there are various drug delivery methods to increase the ocular surface residence time of a topical lubricant, the main problem is the burst release from these delivery systems. To overcome this limitation, herein, a chemical-physical interpenetrating network (IPN) was fabricated to take control over the release of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), a well-known therapeutic agent used to stabilize tear film, from gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogels.
