Atrioseptostomy balloon catheter is an essential item to have on our shelves. However, the recall and shortage in production of the commonly used balloon atrioseptostomy catheters posed an imminent threat to our patients. Herein, we present the case of a newborn with a post-natal diagnosis of simple transposition of great arteries and restrictive atrial communication where repeated static balloon atrial septostomy using a 9 mm x 20 mm Sterling balloon failed to improve his status.

Objectives: To compare the efficiency and safety profile of conventional monopolar, bipolar plasmakinetic and holmium laser techniques for transurethral resection of bladder tumour.

Method: The prospective comparative study was conducted from July 2019 to May 2021 after approval from the ethicsreview committee of Kafrelsheikh University, Egypt, and comprised patients of either gender with primary non muscle invasive bladder cancer who qualified for transurethral resection of bladder tumour. The patients were stratified into low-risk group A, intermediate risk group B and high-risk group C in accordance with the guidelines of the European Association of Urology.

Background: Early-stage lung cancer is treated with curative intent by surgery or radiotherapy. However, upstaging is frequently seen after surgery in clinical N0 lung cancer patients, and despite curative intent, 2-year recurrence rates of 9-28% are reported. A sentinel lymph node (SLN) procedure could improve the staging accuracy.

A flat anterior chamber (AC) is a distinctive feature in vitrectomy eyes during trabeculectomy. The use of AC maintainers is useful to help prevent this peroperative situation. We herein describe the surgical technique using a 25-gauge intravenous catheter as a surrogate to conventional AC maintainers.
