Objectives: The aim of this study was the evaluation of a group of patients treated at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Locomotory Apparatus at Luis Pasteur University Hospital in Košice for septic arthritis in relation to risk factors and chronic diseases and its microbial aetiologic profile.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of patients including all episodes of septic arthritis from March 2013 to August 2022. The occurrence of chronic diseases, risk factors and its microbiological profile were investigated.

Frey syndrome is a late complication after parotidectomy and represents an aberrant regeneration of the auricular nerve after its damage. The degree of manifestation can vary from minor hyperemia to the inability to eat in public places. As it turned out, the etiology of this syndrome is much broader than we might have assumed, as evidenced by the data of domestic and foreign literature.

Aim: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) significantly contributes to high infant mortality in Kazakhstan and developing effective treatment methods is critical. The aim of this study was to explore the microbiological and immunological characteristics of CAP in vaccinated and unvaccinated paediatric patients.
Methods: The study was carried out in the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital and the research centre of Karaganda Medical University, Republic of Kazakhstan.

Secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (sHLH) is a rare, rapidly progressive and highly lethal disease. This retrospective cohort study aims to analyze the factors influencing the mortality risk in adult patients with sHLH, which are instrumental to improving our understanding of the high mortality risks associated with sHLH. This study included 85 patients diagnosed with sHLH who were admitted and treated in the Department of Emergency, Peking University People's Hospital between April 2015 and July 2023.

Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common aetiological agent that causes respiratory infections, especially among infants. Identifying circulating RSV genotypes is an essential strategy for understanding the spread of the virus in a certain area. Sequencing the variable regions of the attachment glycoprotein (G) gene of RSV is a quick and direct approach for identifying the genotypes.
