Background: Achondroplasia is one of the most prevalent forms of skeletal dysplasia. Lifelong follow-up by an experienced multidisciplinary team is required, particularly during the first 2 years. In 2021, international consensus recommendations and guiding principles were published by two groups.

Vascular surgeons take decisions on the revascularization technics when surgery is needed for patients with Lower Extremities Arterial Disease (LEAD). This decision requires experience, good knowledge of official recommandations and new technics and an exhaustive description of the patient status. The Case Based Reasoning (CBR) is a good candidate to clinical decision support.

Purpose: To compare the radiological outcomes of medial closed wedge distal femoral osteotomy (MCWDFO) and lateral open wedge distal femoral osteotomy (LOWDFO), with a focus on evaluating leg length discrepancy (LLD). It was hypothesised that MCWDFO would result in a greater reduction in leg length compared to LOWDFO.

Methods: Patients who underwent MCWDFO or LOWDFO for valgus deformity at a single institution between 2014 and 2022 with a minimum follow-up of 1 year were included.

Next generation sequencing and genomic mapping: towards precision molecular diagnosis of lung cancer in Morocco.

Pan Afr Med J

February 2025

Laboratory of Virology, Oncology, Biosciences, Environment, and New Energies, Faculty of Sciences and Technics Mohammedia, Hassan II University, Casablanca, Morocco.

Introduction: lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with a significant incidence in Morocco. The complex epidemiology of this disease in the country necessitates an in-depth analysis of genetic profiles to improve diagnosis and treatment. This study utilizes next-generation sequencing (NGS) to map genetic alterations in Moroccan patients with lung cancer, a field where molecular data is largely lacking.

Physics-informed neural networks for enhanced reference evapotranspiration estimation in Morocco: Balancing semi-physical models and deep learning.

Chemosphere

April 2025

Center for Remote Sensing Applications (CRSA), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Benguerir, Morocco; Centre d'Etudes Spatiales de la Biosphère (CESBIO), Université de Toulouse, CNES, CNRS, IRD, UPS, 31400, Toulouse, France.

Reference evapotranspiration (ETo) is essential for agricultural water management, crop productivity, and irrigation systems. The Penman-Monteith (PM) equation is the standard method for estimating ETo, but its data-intensive nature makes it impractical, especially in situations where the cost of full standardized weather station is prohibitive, maintenance is inadequate, or data quality and continuity are compromised. To overcome those limitations, various semi-physical (SP) and empirical models with limited weather parameters were developed.
