The effect of let-7a-5p, miR-9a-3p, miR-132-3p, miR-218a-5p microRNA inhibitors and mimetics, when administered into the dorsomedial nucleus of the hypothalamus (DMN), on the markers of age-related changes in blood plasma in 3-month-old and 24-month-old male rats was studied. In the 24-month-old control rats, the content of C-reactive protein (CRP) increased, and the level of myoglobin decreased compared to the 3-month-old animals. After te administration of miRNA inhibitors, the level of CRP significantly increased, and the content of myoglobin decreased, and after the administration of miRNA mimetics, opposite changes were observed.

Much of the centrally available oxytocin (OT) is synthesized in magnocellular neurons located in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus. This same area is home to parvocellular corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) synthesizing neurons that regulate activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. A large body of data indicates that complex interactions between these systems inextricably link central OT signaling with the neuroendocrine response to stress.

Background: Second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) are a mainstay therapy for schizophrenia. SGA-treated patients present higher risk for weight gain, dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia. Herein, we evaluated the effects of olanzapine (OLA), widely prescribed SGA, in mice focusing on changes in body weight and energy balance.

Vasopressin-synthesizing neurons are located in several brain regions, including the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN), supraoptic nucleus (SON) and suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Vasopressin has been shown to have various functions in the brain, including social recognition memory, stress responses, emotional behaviors and circadian rhythms. The precise physiological functions of vasopressin-synthesizing neurons in specific brain regions remain to be clarified.

Introduction: Evidence exists for the role of the hypothalamic hamartoma's topography as a determinant for the clinical presentation. How the hamartoma relation to the hypothalamic structures can make clinical presentations, severity and surgery outcomes different from patient to patient is largely unknown. Our aim was to analyze the effect of fine anatomical topography on clinical spectrum and radiosurgery outcome.
