Current cancer screening methods are effective for detecting early stage cancers and even preventing some cancers, but their effectiveness has only been demonstrated for a handful of cancers, and for many cancers, there are no screening tests clinically available. In addition, the majority of the screening methods are not ideal, resulting in suboptimal compliance and the occurrence of preventable cancers. A screening test that is convenient, safe, accurate and that can screen for multiple cancers is an ideal screening test that would address many of the shortcomings of the current tests.

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) is an autosomal disorder that causes liver and lung disease. The risk of developing lung emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and liver cirrhosis is observed in >75 % people affected with a homozygous mutation. Here, we describe the generation of an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolated from a AATD patient using non viral and non-integrating episomal vectors.

Alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) is a significant global health concern and a leading cause of liver disease-related deaths. However, the treatment options are limited due to the lack of animal models that accurately replicate ALD pathogenesis. An ideal ALD animal model should have pathological characteristics similar to those of human ALD, with a clear pathological process and ease of drug intervention.

The stimulation of HC regeneration through exogenous gene delivery represents an ideal therapeutic approach for restoring vestibular function. Overexpression of Atoh1, Pou4f3, and Gfi1 (collectively referred to as APG) has demonstrated efficacy in promoting HC regeneration in the cochlea.

Background In the healthcare setting, transgender patients are often marginalized, face discrimination and have limited access to high-quality gender-affirming care, such as gender-affirming surgery (GAS). As a result, the available data pertaining to GAS are often based on convenience samples, and the majority of published studies in the US are cross-sectional. Transgender people may undergo GAS to align their bodies with their gender identities.
