Acute heart failure is associated with high hospitalization and mortality rates. A strong, independent risk factor for mortality in patients with heart failure is acute kidney injury, and the condition caused by this connection between disturbances in heart function and proper kidney functioning is cardiorenal syndrome (CRS). This case report discusses the role of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in the management of a CRS case with septic shock due to pneumonia.

This paper presents a case of a 77-year-old patient diagnosed with type 2 cardio-renal syndrome, who has undergone a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation surgery due to aortic stenosis associated with permanent atrial fibrillation and type 2 diabetes. Importance: It is not well understood if and how various social and environmental determinants of health (SEDoH) are associated with mortality rates related to cardio-kidney-metabolic syndrome (CKM) across the US.
Objective: To study the magnitude of the association strength of SEDoH with CKM-related mortality at the county level across the US.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cross-sectional, retrospective, population-based study used aggregate county-level data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Wide-Ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research (WONDER) data portal from 2010-2019.

Introduction: Peritoneal ultrafiltration (PUF) has been proposed as an additional therapeutic option for refractory congestive heart failure (RCHF) patients. Despite promising observational studies and/or case report results, limited clinical trial data exist, and so far, PUF solutions remain only indicated for chronic kidney diseases. In this article, we described a multicenter, randomized, controlled, unblinded, adaptive design clinical trial, about to start, investigating the effects of PolyCore™, an innovative PUF solution, in the treatment of RCHF patients.

Unlabelled: The American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidelines prioritize Sodicum-glucose transporter-2-inhibitors (SGLT2i) given cardio-renal and glycemic benefits. This study was conducted to observe clinical factors associated with initial SGLT2i prescription in type 2 diabetes patients eligible for SGLT2i by the ADA.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study was performed in a safety-net clinic and consisted of the initial SGLT2i prescriptions group and the group without.
