Acute heart failure is associated with high hospitalization and mortality rates. A strong, independent risk factor for mortality in patients with heart failure is acute kidney injury, and the condition caused by this connection between disturbances in heart function and proper kidney functioning is cardiorenal syndrome (CRS). This case report discusses the role of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in the management of a CRS case with septic shock due to pneumonia.

This paper presents a case of a 77-year-old patient diagnosed with type 2 cardio-renal syndrome, who has undergone a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation surgery due to aortic stenosis associated with permanent atrial fibrillation and type 2 diabetes. This patient, despite their multi-morbidity, undertook family travels to Egypt. Despite disease symptoms and plethora of medication, the patient did not seek medical advice on preventative measures or potential health risks prior to the departure.

Despite promising observational studies and/or case report results, limited clinical trial data exist, and so far, PUF solutions remain only indicated for chronic kidney diseases. In this article, we described a multicenter, randomized, controlled, unblinded, adaptive design clinical trial, about to start, investigating the effects of PolyCore™, an innovative PUF solution, in the treatment of RCHF patients.

This study was conducted to observe clinical factors associated with initial SGLT2i prescription in type 2 diabetes patients eligible for SGLT2i by the ADA.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study was performed in a safety-net clinic and consisted of the initial SGLT2i prescriptions group and the group without.
