Background: Posterior scleritis (PS) is a rare phenotype of scleritis. Comprehensive epidemiological studies on PS in children are limited. We aimed to report on its clinical and imaging features in one of the largest pediatric series to date.

Purpose: Bangladesh has experienced a rapid epidemiological transition from communicable to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in recent decades. There is, however, limited evidence about multidimensional determinants of NCDs in this population. The BangladEsh Longitudinal Investigation of Emerging Vascular and nonvascular Events (BELIEVE) study is a household-based prospective cohort study established to investigate biological, behavioural, environmental and broader determinants of NCDs.

Plastic nanoparticle toxicity is accentuated in the immune-competent inflamed intestinal tri-culture cell model.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Administration, School of Pharmacy, Westbrook College of Health Professions, University of New England, Portland, Maine, USA.

Important cell-based models of intestinal inflammation have been advanced in hopes of predicting the impact of nanoparticles on disease. We sought to determine whether a high level and extended exposure of nanoplastic might result in the added intestinal inflammation caused by nanoplastic reported in a mouse model of irritable bowel disease. The cell models consist of a Transwell©-type insert with a filter membrane upon which lies a biculture monolayer of Caco-2 and HT29-MTX-E12 made up the barrier cells (apical compartment).

This study aimed to prepare films using Xyloglucan (Xylo) and tea extract (TE) to treat aphthous stomatitis without causing discomfort. Xylo, which gelates by adding polyphenol, was used as a gelation agent, and TE, which contains epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) with antioxidant properties, was used as an active pharmaceutical agent. Two kinds of films, hydrogel and xerogel films, were prepared by mixing various amounts of Xylo and TE.

Background: The mechanistic pathways that give rise to the extreme symptoms exhibited by rare disease patients are complex, heterogeneous, and difficult to discern. Understanding these mechanisms is critical for developing treatments that address the underlying causes of diseases rather than merely the presenting symptoms. Moreover, the same dysfunctional series of interrelated symptoms implicated in rare recessive diseases may also lead to milder and potentially preventable symptoms in carriers in the general population.
