Today, we are witnessing the emergence of a nursing discipline that is clearly seeking to base its legitimacy primarily on science. However, only an epistemological approach can assure us of the relevance of such an approach. While the nursing discipline must unquestionably be based on a rational, scientific approach, can we not nevertheless assume that an irreducible element of mystery will forever remain at the heart of care?

The study of high order dependencies in complex systems has recently led to the introduction of statistical synergy, a novel quantity corresponding to a form of emergence in which patterns at large scales are not traceable from lower scales. As a consequence, several works in the last years dealt with the synergy and its counterpart, the redundancy. In particular, the O-information is a signed metric that measures the balance between redundant and synergistic statistical dependencies.

This paper elaborates various ways in which atmospheric negations operate by weaponising bodily vulnerability to air. It shows, firstly, how bodies remain exposed to colonial proximities of respiratory, olfactory, and sonic violence with ways that are constituted through negating site- and body-spheres. It highlights these spheric materialities by discussing the use of tear gas and skunk water, bombing of chemical warehouses, and the sonic settler aggression in Palestine, further arguing that we need to pay more attention to the irreducibility of the body to such violent orchestrations of atmospheric.

Today's living world is enriched with a myriad of natural biological designs, shaped by billions of years of evolution. Unraveling the construction rules of living organisms offers the potential to create new materials and systems for biomedicine. From the close examination of living organisms, several concepts emerge: hierarchy, pattern repetition, adaptation, and irreducible complexity.
