Patients undergoing metabolic surgery have factors ranging from anatomo-surgical, endocrine metabolic, eating patterns and physical activity, mental health and psychological factors. Some of the latter can explain the possible pathophysiological neuroendocrine, metabolic, and adaptive mechanisms that cause the high prevalence of weight regain in postbariatric patients. Even metabolic surgery has proven to be effective in reducing excess weight in patients with obesity; some of them regain weight after this intervention.

Invasiveness in pituitary adenomas has been defined and investigated from multiple perspectives, with varying results when its predictive value is considered. A systematic literature review, following PRISMA guidelines, was performed, searching PubMed and Scopus databases with terms that included molecular markers, histological, radiological, anatomical and surgical data on invasiveness of pituitary adenomas. The results showed that differing views are still present for anatomical aspects of the sellar region that are relevant to the concept of invasiveness; radiological and histological diagnoses are still limited, but might improve in the future, especially if they are related to surgical findings, which have become more accurate thanks to the introduction of the endoscope.

The parenchymal distribution of the splenic artery was studied in order to obtain anatomical basis for partial splenectomy. Thirty two spleens were studied, 26 spleens of healthy horses weighing 320 to 450 kg, aged 3 to 12 years and 6 spleens of fetus removed from slaughterhouse. The spleens were submitted to arteriography and scintigraphy in order to have their vascular pattern examined and compared to the external aspect of the organ aiming establish anatomo-surgical segments.

After some preliminary remarks upon pathophysiologic and anatomo-surgical aspects, the main complications of axillary lymph-nodal dissection for breast cancer treatment are reported. The role of surgical technique is particularly underlined and also the importance of proper management of wound and surgical drainage post-operatively are pointed out. Author describes, finally, the necessity of an adequate knowledge of lymphatic drainage not only of mammary region, but also of surrounding area, in order to prevent lesions to lymphatic pathways, particularly to those draining upper arm at the same site of breast cancer.

Background: Spinal intradural extramedullary tumors account for 2/3 of all intraspinal neoplasms and are mainly represented by meningiomas and schwannomas, with the former accounting for the 25-46% of all primary intraspinal tumors. Technical advances in imaging technique, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and surgical procedures have brought about significant better clinical results in the last 2 decades. Neverthless a small percentage of patients still present poor postoperative outcome mainly related to the duration of clinical history, the severity of preoperative neurological deficits and to some specific anatomo-surgical aspects.
