Glucocorticoids (GCs) are hallmarks of anti-inflammatory activity. They are used as adjuvant therapy in oncology medications to alleviate some of the associated side effects. Although recent research has indicated that GCs have favorable anticancer potential, some scientific evidence suggests a pro-proliferation impact of GCs on cancer cells.

Background: Alcohol intake is associated with a higher risk of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer (BC), presumably through its confirmed ability to increase sex hormone levels. Whether consuming alcohol within the recommended limit of one serving per day increases sex hormone levels among postmenopausal women taking aromatase inhibitors (AI) to inhibit estrogen production remains unknown. Therefore, we compared sex hormone levels following white wine to levels following white grape juice among ER + BC survivors taking AIs.

Background/aim: Breast cancer is mostly affected by estrogen, which promotes proliferation, tumorigenesis, and cancer progression. Estrogen sulfotransferase (SULT1E1) catalyzes sulfation to inactivate estrogens, whereas steroid sulfatase (STS) catalyzes estrogen sulfate hydrolysis to activate estrogens in breast cancer cells. Three major organosulfur compounds in garlic (Allium sativum L.

Proper management of cattle reproduction has a major impact on the efficiency and profitability of dairy production. Ultrasound examination and transrectal palpation or the pregnancy-associated glycoprotein (PAG) test are currently the most commonly used methods for pregnancy diagnosis. However, alternative methods to those mentioned above are constantly being sought in order to minimise stress during the examination, the cost of veterinary services and to reduce the rate of errors in pregnancy diagnosis.

Despite evidence indicating a substantial presence of microplastics (MPs) in organic fertilizers, research exploring the differences of MPs among various types of organic fertilizers remains limited. Additionally, MPs can act as carriers for organic pollutants, influencing their environmental behaviors. This study investigated the presence of MPs in organic fertilizers and their effects on the environmental behaviors of steroidal estrogens.
