Background: Patients with pulmonary atresia and ventricular septal defect (PA/VSD) are prone to progressive aortic dilation. However, there are relatively few reports of progressive development of aortic aneurysm or aortic dissection in adult patients who missed early corrective surgery.
Presentation Of Cases: Case 1: A 38-year-old man with PA/VSD and a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), underwent VSD repair, aortic valve replacement, and PA correction at age 21.

Background: Despite a phenylalanine (Phe) restrictive diet, most adult patients with 'classical' phenylketonuria (PKU) maintain life-long Phe concentrations above the normal range and receive tyrosine (Tyr) and protein-enriched diets to maintain acceptable concentrations and ensure normal development. While these interventions are highly successful in preventing adverse neuropsychiatric complications, their long- term consequences are incompletely explored. We observed early cardiomyopathic characteristics and associated hemodynamic changes in adult PKU patients and present here the results of a longitudinal evaluation of cardiac phenotype.

A 9-y-old, spayed female, non-brachycephalic mixed-breed dog was presented with progressive abdominal distension and diarrhea of <24 h duration. An echocardiogram revealed nodular masses in the pericardium and myocardium, particularly near the auricles. Diagnostic and therapeutic pericardiocentesis failed to improve the dog's status, and the owner elected euthanasia.

: Resistance exercises (REs) are a type of physical activity that individuals from many age groups have been doing recreationally, both as amateurs and professionally, in their daily lives in recent years. It is crucial to understand the effects of such sports on cardiac morphology in order to maximize the benefit of training and to tailor the training content accordingly. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between training experience (TE) and left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic parameters and left atrial (LA) mechanical function in healthy subjects who regularly performed RE for different durations.

Background: Patients with solitary functioning kidney appear to be exposed to an increased cardiovascular risk. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of peripheral and central blood pressure on subclinical cardiovascular organ damage in a sample of children and adolescents with solitary functioning kidney.
Methods: Carotid ultrasonography was performed to measure the carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) and the carotid distensibility coefficient.
