Artificial fish nests are common tools in fisheries management, providing spawning grounds to enhance the size and diversity of fish populations. This study aimed to explore the effects of deployment locations on the reproductive efficiency and preferences of fish with adhesive and demersal eggs using artificial nests. Floating artificial nests were deployed in three regions (upstream, midstream, and downstream) of a reservoir in Zhejiang, China, at locations with three topographical types: steep slope (reservoir shore, slopes > 60°), gentle slope (reservoir shore, slopes < 30°), and confluence (middle thread of channel).

The presence of cells in urine and in particular White Blood Cells (WBCs) is often associated with Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and other diseases. Non-invasive screening of WBCs requires the development of cost-effective point of care diagnostic tools. Infrared (IR) spectroscopy has the potential to identify and quantify cells in urine.

Glyphosate, a widely used herbicide globally, has prompted concerns regarding its potential health impacts. This study aimed to explore the link between glyphosate exposure and renal function by combining NHANES, a zebrafish model, and metabolomics. A cross-sectional analysis of 2013-2014 NHANES data investigated the relationship between glyphosate exposure and renal function [albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)].

The construction of artificial reefs (ARs) is an effective way to restore habitats and increase and breed fishery resources in marine ranches. However, studies on the impacts of ARs on the structure, function, and assembly patterns of the bacterial community (BC), which is important in biogeochemical cycles, are lacking. The compositions, diversities, assembly patterns, predicted functions, and key environmental factors of the attached and free-living microbial communities in five-year ARs (O-ARs) and one-year ARs (N-ARs) in Fangchenggang, China, were analyzed via 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Frustrated Lewis pair chemistry (FLP) occupy a crucial position in nonmetal-mediated catalysis, especially toward activation of inert gas molecules. Yet, one formidable issue of homogeneous FLP catalysts is their instability on preservation and recycling. Here we contribute a general solution that marries the polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) with a structurally specific frustrated Lewis acid to fabricate porous polymer networks, which can form water-insensitive heterogeneous FLP catalysts upon employing Lewis base substrates.
