Objectives: Clinical assessment of uterine artery (UtA) hemodynamics is currently limited to Doppler ultrasound (US) velocimetry. We have demonstrated previously the feasibility of applying four-dimensional (4D) flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to evaluate UtA hemodynamics during pregnancy, allowing flow quantification of the entire course of the vessel. In this study, we sought to further validate the physiological relevance of 4D flow MRI measurement of UtA blood flow by exploring its association with pregnancy outcome relative to US-based metrics.

Background: There is a long tradition of reaction time studies in experimental psychopathology. Even though a diminishing interest in this paradigm has been seen over the last years, it is in line with more recent biological approaches to examine psychiatric disorders cross-diagnostically.

Methods: Patients (n=95) with a positive subtype of schizophrenia (n=22), a negative subtype of schizophrenia (n=18), a full major depressive episode (n=19), a full manic episode (n=16), or a mood disorder in remission (n=20) and subjects with no known psychiatric disorder (n=30), respectively, participated in a computer-based reaction time test consisting of four trials with 55 short visual and auditory stimuli presented in a random sequence.

We established a strategy to perform cross-validation of serial optical coherence scanner imaging (SOCS) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) on a postmortem human medulla. Following DTI, the sample was serially scanned by SOCS, which integrates a vibratome slicer and a multi-contrast optical coherence tomography rig for large-scale three-dimensional imaging at microscopic resolution. The DTI dataset was registered to the SOCS space.

A developmental dissociation of view-dependent and view-invariant object recognition in adolescence.

Spatial generalization skills in school children aged 8-16 were studied with regard to unfamiliar objects that had been previously learned in a cross-modal priming and learning paradigm. We observed a developmental dissociation with younger children recognizing objects only from previously learnt perspectives whereas older children generalized acquired object knowledge to new viewpoints as well. Haptic and--to a lesser extent--visual priming improved spatial generalization in all but the youngest children.

The functional consequences of posterior parietal (PPC) and posterior temporal (Te2/3) cortical lesions on rat spatial and nonspatial multimodal learning, and memory were assessed using three behavioral paradigms. In the first, a stimulus-elicited object-place recognition task, PPC-lesioned animals were found to habituate to repeated presentation and dishabituate to changes in the visual and auditory properties of the objects but they fail to respond to changes in their location. The Te2/3-lesioned animals recognized changes in spatial location, but not changes in auditory or visual characteristics of the objects.
