Background: Life-long vitamin K antagonist (VKA) therapy is recommended as a standard of care in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) patients with thrombosis. Concerns have been raised about the validity of international normalized ratio (INR) measurements in lupus anticoagulant (LA)-positive APS patients because LA may interfere with phospholipid-dependent coagulation tests and could elevate INR measurements.

Objectives: Here, we aimed to determine the interference of antigen-specific monoclonal and isolated patient antibodies with LA activity on INR measurements.

Equivariant neural networks for inverse problems.

Inverse Probl

August 2021

Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge, Wilberforce Road, Cambridge CB3 0WA, United Kingdom.

In recent years the use of convolutional layers to encode an inductive bias (translational equivariance) in neural networks has proven to be a very fruitful idea. The successes of this approach have motivated a line of research into incorporating other symmetries into deep learning methods, in the form of group equivariant convolutional neural networks. Much of this work has been focused on roto-translational symmetry of , but other examples are the scaling symmetry of and rotational symmetry of the sphere.

Perioperative changes in PIVKA-II.

Scand J Clin Lab Invest

November 2015

a Blekingesjukhuset , Karlskrona , Sweden.

Background And Aims: Proteins induced by vitamin K absence for factor II (PIVKA-II) is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay that monitors uncarboxylated prothrombin and responds to vitamin K deficits prior to changes in the prothrombin test. The aim of this project was to study perioperative PIVKA-II changes during various types of surgery in a prospective observational study.

Methods: Patients undergoing abdominal or orthopaedic surgery were included.
