Immunotherapy, particularly that based on blocking checkpoint proteins in many tumors, including melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), triple-negative breast (TNB cancer), renal cancer, and gastrointestinal and endometrial neoplasms, is a therapeutic alternative to chemotherapy. Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based therapies have the potential to target different pathways leading to the destruction of cancer cells. Although ICIs are an effective treatment strategy for patients with highly immune-infiltrated cancers, the development of different adverse effects including cutaneous adverse effects during and after the treatment with ICIs is common.

Objective To explore the clinical features and treatments of Chinese patients with bullous pemphigoid (BP) induced by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 18 Chinese patients with ICI-induced BP treated in the Peking Union Medical College Hospital and 14 Chinese patients with this disease reported in the literature.Furthermore, the research data of non-Chinese patients were used for comparison to outline the clinical features and treatment responses of the Chinese patients.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer treatment by enhancing the immune system's ability to target cancer cells. However, ICIs can lead to immune-related adverse events (irAEs), including dermatologic manifestations such as bullous pemphigoid (BP).
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of omalizumab and other biologics in the treatment of ICI-induced refractory bullous pemphigoid and to derive a strategy for selecting biologic treatments for this condition.

Introduction And Importance: An emphysema bulla is defined as a distension greater than 1 cm of an airspace beyond the terminal bronchioles. Infection of an emphysema bulla is a common and serious complication of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which can lead to significant morbidity. Surgical intervention may be necessary in severe cases to prevent further complications.
