Caring practices during vaccination encounters are deeply interwoven with materiality, encompassing everyday objects and elements that play a crucial role for all actors involved. However, the significance of these materialities in shaping caring relationships within vaccination practices has been largely overlooked. This research seeks to fill that gap by exploring how mundane elements, such as the objects present during vaccination, contribute to the relational dynamics of the experience.

Neuron-inspired CsPbBr/PDMS nanospheres for multi-dimensional sensing and interactive displays.

Light Sci Appl

January 2025

National and Local United Engineering Laboratory of Flat Panel Display Technology, College of Physics and Information Engineering, Fuzhou University, 350108, Fuzhou, China.

Multifunctional materials have attracted tremendous attention in intelligent and interactive devices. However, achieving multi-dimensional sensing capabilities with the same perovskite quantum dot (PQD) material is still in its infancy, with some considering it currently challenging and even unattainable. Drawing inspiration from neurons, a novel multifunctional CsPbBr/PDMS nanosphere is devised to sense humidity, temperature, and pressure simultaneously with unique interactive responses.

Enhancing Catalytic Removal of Autoexhaust Soot Particles via the Modulation of Interfacial Oxygen Vacancies in Cu/CeO Catalysts.

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Heavy Oil Processing, Key Laboratory of Optical Detection Technology for Oil and Gas, College of Science, China University of Petroleum, Beijing 102249, PR China.

The purification efficiency of autoexhaust carbon strongly depends on the heterogeneous interface structure between active metal and oxide, which can modulate the local electronic structure of defect sites to promote the activation of reactant molecules. Herein, the high-dispersion CuO clusters supported on the well-defined CeO nanorods were prepared using the complex deposition slow method. The formation of heteroatomic Cu-O-Ce interfacial structural units as active sites can capture electrons to achieve activation of the NO and O molecules.

Gravity has long been purported to serve a unique role in sensorimotor coordination, but the specific mechanisms underlying gravity-based visuomotor realignment remain elusive. In this study, astronauts (9 males, 2 females) performed targeted hand movements with eyes open or closed, both on the ground and in weightlessness. Measurements revealed systematic drift in hand-path orientation seen only when eyes were closed and only in very specific conditions with respect to gravity.

Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) Part I - Diagnosis and Clinical Presentation.

J Am Acad Dermatol

January 2025

Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL.

Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) is a primary lymphocytic cicatricial alopecia predominantly affecting postmenopausal Caucasian women. It is characterized by a progressive frontotemporal hairline recession that presents as a scarring hairless band and is often accompanied by eyebrow and body hair loss. Although initially described in postmenopausal women, FFA has been observed in a broader demographic, including premenopausal women and occasionally men.
