Background: Topical steroids are widely used in dermatology for their anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, but misuse can cause skin thinning and systemic issues. In Ethiopia, where skin conditions are common, understanding how topical steroids are prescribed and used is essential for ensuring their safe and effective use.
Objective: The study aimed to assess topical steroids' prescription and utilization pattern in Dessie Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (DCSH) from February 1 to May 30, 2024.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with rising prevalence, marked by eczematous lesions, itching, and a weakened skin barrier often tied to filaggrin gene mutations. This breakdown allows allergen and microbe entry, with thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) playing a crucial role by activating immune pathways that amplify the allergic response. TSLP's central role in AD pathogenesis makes it a promising therapeutic target.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by recurrent eczematous lesions and severe itching, for which clinical treatments are limited. Selectively inhibiting Janus Kinase 3 (JAK3) and tyrosine kinase expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (TEC) family kinases is proposed as a promising strategy to treat AD with possible reduced side effects and enhanced efficacy. View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe present a case of a patient with longstanding psoriasis vulgaris who developed an atopic dermatitis-like eruption following long-term IL-17A inhibitor therapy. Following many years of excellent disease control with secukinumab and later ixekizumab, he developed a de novo eczematous eruption, which showed spongiotic dermatitis upon biopsy. The patient was successfully treated for both psoriasis and atopic dermatitis with upadacitinib, a Janus kinase inhibitor.
