Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response to infection, and its occurrence is associated with a poor prognosis in the context of multiorgan dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Although there are several animal models for the study of its etiology, the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) model has been considered the "Gold standard" because it shows a high degree of similarity to the progression of human sepsis. Currently, it is one of the most frequently chosen options to search for therapeutic alternatives to diminish the progression and organ damage induced by sepsis.

Abscess-forming cervical bacterial infections are rare and serious infections. We retrospectively examined the trends in abscess-forming cervical bacterial infections in children who required inpatient treatment in three periods before (January 2016 to June 2020), during (July 2020 to December 2022) and after the COVID-19 pandemic (January 2023 to June 2024). The study included 96 patients with superficial cervical abscesses and 111 patients with deep cervical abscesses (34 with retropharyngeal abscesses, 51 with peritonsillar abscesses, and 26 with deep neck abscesses).

Background/objectives: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a disease which threatens vision and causes disabling headaches, affecting women of childbearing age with obesity. There is an unmet clinical need to develop non-invasive means to assess ICP.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is definitively diagnosed by systematic prostate biopsy (SBx) with 13 cores. This method, however, can increase the risk of urinary retention, infection and bleeding due to the excessive number of biopsy cores.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 622 patients who underwent SBx with prostate multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) from two centers between January 2014 to June 2022.
