Division of labour (DOL) in eusocial insects plays an important role in colony fitness. Honeybees face a variety of stressors that compromise the homeostasis of the colony and reduce survival and reproduction. Considering the significance of DOL in colony homeostasis, it is important to understand whether and how DOL may be altered as a result of chronic stress.

Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) is an important global oil crop, with spring and winter varieties grown commercially. To understand the transcriptomic differences between these varieties, we collected transcriptomes from apex and leaf tissue from a spring variety, Westar, and a winter variety, Tapidor, before, during, and after vernalisation treatment, until the plants flowered. Large transcriptomic differences were noted in both varieties during the vernalisation treatment because of temperature and day length changes.

Deciphering lipid metabolism in white adipose tissue (WAT) depots during weight gain is important to understand the heterogeneity of WAT and its roles in obesity. Here, we examined the expression of key enzymes of lipid metabolism and changes in the morphology of representative visceral (epididymal) and subcutaneous (inguinal) WAT (eWAT and iWAT, respectively)-in adult male rats acclimated to cold (4 ± 1 °C) for 45 days and reacclimated to room temperature (RT, 22 ± 1 °C) for 1, 3, 7, 12, 21, or 45 days. The relative mass of both depots decreased to a similar extent after cold acclimation.

Loquat ( Lindl. ) is one of the most economically important evergreen fruit crops in China, while it often suffered the injury of cold stress in winter and earlier spring, and the annual yield loss of loquat fruits caused by cold or freezing stress was immeasurable. However, knowledge about the physiological response and molecular mechanism under cold stress is still limited.

Transboundary water cooperation (TWC) is an important theme of international cooperation. We conducted macro-level research on TWC from the perspective of inter-country relations and constructed a theoretical framework in which multidimensional proximity influences the formation of global TWC. We explained how multidimensional proximity and the constituent elements comprehensively influence the cooperative willingness and ability of actors, which directly drive the generation of global TWC.
